Answered by Honest John. Every diesel from January 2011 has a DPF and most from the years before that also do. Repeated short runs from cold starts, especially in winter, are bad for a DPF. But so far only heard of one problem with them in KIA/Hyundai 1.6CRDIs. Tags: buying a used car dpf technical issues.
Hello. I am new to this forum. I have a 2010 Kia Ceed 3 estate 1.6 crdi automatic. I have the same issue, mine has been stopped on the slip road to a38 without any notice. It is not starting at all, I have the exact same 3 codes coming up. P0253, P0031 and P0340. I have changed the fuel filter (mann wk8019) and cleaned the fuel sender in the tank.

It is very likely your starter motor is not turning quickly enough. If your car is 10 year old or older, check your starter motor. These are the main two reasons why your car is not starting when it is cold. You can check your injectors, but if the car runs fine I would be surprised if this is your problem.
Our 2013 Kia Sportage 1.7 CRDi has recently developed a problem with gear selection. This is specifically affecting the selection of first gear, whether from neutral or any other gear, and it is also difficult to get out of reverse. It will go in with a bit of force but it feels a bit 'notchy' and I'm worried about damaging the gearbox.
From the symptom you describe it sounds like you just have a starter that is intermittantly working. If at the time the mechanic is checking the vehicle and it is starting for him, it would be difficult to verify if the starter is the problem. But likely that is what is going on is the starter needs replacing.
That says all Kia petrol-engine cars can use E10. In practice if the engine was sold in Europe and was built after 2000 then there's very very few models which can't use E10. For example there's only one model of petrol-engine Ford built since 1992 which can't use E10.
